Mackenzie rarely took out her Honda Del Sol. It was really a car that she hid so she could work on it by herself. It was more precious to her than Jamie or Ali the streetbike because she had put a lot of time and effort into it. Her Del Sol, was her baby. It was black with silver rims, the roof was off so she could feel the air whip by, and she had turned on the pink underglow and lights on the dash. Of course, underglow was completely illegal but so were the tinted windows she had on the car. Just like the privacy cover for the license plate, so if she got caught in one of those street cameras the license was just blank in the picture. Completely illegal, but she loved it even more. There was virtually nothing left on her car that was stock. Everything was aftermarket. The manual transmission, the radio and speakers, the turbo, none of that came with the car. There was a reason, she was careful with this car. It could fuck shit up but a big grin grew on her face as she heard the undeniable sound of VTECH.
But that was what Mackenzie liked to do. She liked being reckless and having a good time, it was just part of who she was. She drove through the streets in seconds doing exactly what she promised; Mack sped like a demon and power drifted around every corner. Stop signs and speed limits had simply become more of guidelines. Plus there was no one on the road, she was setting the standard for others to keep up with. She did take a second to look to her side and realize something very important though. There were only two seats. A driver seat, and a passenger seat. She furrowed her brows and then shrugged, Jenny could sit in between them. Shifting would just be awkward, there was no way she was going to let Jenny shift for her. She huffed though as she realized her gas light was on. 'Fuck, I never filled it from last time' she thought to herself, and quickly she headed over to the next gas station.
Of course, the gas station endeavor had taken a bit of time but within seconds Mackenzie was pulling up in front of Kona’s house. She smiled as she looked at the digital display of the time, ‘took no time at all’ she thought to herself. She honked once and then jumped out to greet her favorite little Kona-bear. Midnight drives made the world go round.

Though she had been excitied to go biking, she was okay with just the drive. She and Mackenzie had some of their best memories on their midnight drives. In addition, Kona had also gotten Oliver to admit he was jealous. It was a small war won in her mind. She had him, if not on her hook, near the hook He was sniffing the bait and it be a matter of time before all she had to do was reel him in. However, some days it bothered her to like him. This morning for example, she detested him. She had even told him to "go die", but when she was upset everything was out of her control.
She had always been reckless, but she was starting to wonder if she was taking it too far. She knew she didn't do the things she did for attention. Kona despised attention due to the fact it made her hill. Not that she enjoyed being ignored, but she was growing used to it. Jenny and James had their date and Mack and Oliver had been living with each other. She was the fifth wheel.
Sighing, she continued to stare aimlessly into the stars. She had struggled with self-harming, but she didn't believe she did outlandish stunts to pull that off. So, why did she do them? Her thoughts were broken my a honk and a smile dashed across Kona's face. It was go time. Brooke was her favorite of Mack's, because she almost Amber's twin. Amber was a Mustang. She was black, but pimped in pink. Pink spinners and rims, pink and black leather interior, and like Mackenzie she had a pink underglow. Kona had spent time with Amber and some boys from home to built the car up for extreme speed. To be honest, Kona felt she had betrayed a friend when Amber got it. She was going to fix her up all byself and that would be Kona's apology.
She picked herself up off one of the high end lounge chairs on her enormous porch and made her way over. Other than the clear signs of her accident, both the night and pounds of cover up hid Kona's bursing. The girl could pull off even the "i'm-in-a-cast-and-i-have-112-stitches" look and be damn fine. Though, she wasn't in leather or carrying around handcuffs. She had kept her word to Oliver and changed. She had also wore a ton of bracelets so not to worry him about being naked, whether for Jenny's sake or his.
Kona slid her phone free from her back pocket and sent Oliver a text telling him she was getting in the car and everything was okay. Kona had been able to ditch the crutches. She had spent her mornings going up and down the stairs to build her strength up. "Hello, beautiful," she smiled as she slid in beside Mack. "To Jenny's, I hope she isn't too scared." She gave Mack a wink and giggle. She puckered her lip and turned up the stereo and let out a scream. The night belonged to them.

Jenny knew that Kona and Mack were excited for the midnight drive, but Jenny was scared. She had never done anything like this before. And she wasn’t even sure how she had been talked into it. Kona and Mack had never tried to get her to go on a midnight drive before, and all of the sudden she was pacing back and forth in front of her house, twirling her hair around her finger nervously, her eyes darting upward every time she saw a pair of headlights coming down the road. None of them had been her yet.
Jenny thought about how different the last few days had been for her. She had gone on her first date, and it had gone very well. Now she was standing, rather pacing, in front of her house waiting for her friends to come pick her up and hoping that she was still going to be alive when it came time to go to school in the morning. She trusted Kona and Mack, but their definitions of fun were a bit different than hers. She wondered if they were still going to the club. Jenny really did not want to go to a club. She had never gone somewhere she wasn’t supposed to be, and the idea of doing it made her shake.
She rocked back and forth and leaned over to look at the road. If they didn’t get here soon, Jenny was going to text Kona and tell her that she had changed her mind and to go on without her. Doubts ate at the back of her mind. But before she had the chance to do it, a car was pulling up in front of her house with two dark haired beauties sitting in it. She slowly made her way to the car and looked at them. There were only two seats, and they were both taken. Maybe Jenny was going to get out of this yet.

Mack smiled like crazy when Kona let out a scream and they were off into the night. She loved going for midnight drives. It gave her time to clear her head and just live. She didn’t get to do that at home, just be. She always heard Alexander in the next room. Her family and their laughter made her sick, she hated them for leaving her out. But here, in her car, with her friends, Mackenzie could breathe easy. As they raced down the streets to Jenny’s all Mack could hear was the wind racing by and the radio. Turning the radio down she looked at Kona with a smile. “I’ve missed this.” Mackenzie said simply, because she really had. She had so many great memories from their crazy drives that meant so much to her.
Soon enough they were approaching Jenny’s house and you could see the nervous little girl from a mile away. Mack laughed a bit at Jenny’s scared face without meaning to as she parked in front of the house. She saw Jenny’s face relax a bit though when she noticed the two seat dilemma. “Don’t think you’re in the clear princess. It’s either you or Kona in the middle” she said pausing, “and you can stop pacing. I’m not gonna kill you. Plus, we’re not going to the club. I have a better idea.” she said with a mischievous grin.

Kona looked down at her leg and sighed feeling awful. "I hate to say it, boo-boo, but I don't think I could get my leg in there without popping a stitch or to. I mean, it's cool with me, but my mother, Oliver not Millie, might ground me or something." She rolled her eyes and blew upward making her bangs flip as she shrugged. "It's gonna be okay, now get in here!" She let out a gentle laughter that she hoped would ease Jenny's nerves.
She was itching to learn what the surprise Mack had in mind might be. Mackenzie was oodles of fun and made Kona feel like she had a badass older sister. In school, it had happened more than once that they were mistaken as sisters. Though, school was not something Kona wanted to think about. She tried her hardest, but reading and shit messed her up in almost every class. She was bright, but her lack of schooling as a child had caught up with her. Jenny had been sweet enough to tutor Kona. Jenny was a lot of fun to, but in different ways than Mack. Kona also didn't have to pretend that she drank with Jenny. It was nice to have fun with someone who wasn't totally trashed and remembered the fun they had the night before. Jenny was also a good foil for Kona. She kept Kona calm and grounded, while Mack got Kona high off of life. She was happy to be with the both; it was a girl's night and she was loving it.

Jenny wasn’t sure if she believed them, but Jenny realized she was the only one that seemed concerned about what the night was going to bring. Maybe going out of her comfort zone wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world. She carefully got into the car and settled, somewhat uncomfortably, in between the two girls. She wondered where they were going and what they were doing, but she trusted the girls. Not to mention, Jenny was well aware of how to say no. If it was really that bad, it wasn’t like they were going to make her do it. She was probably overreacting. Usually Jenny didn’t get this freaked out about stuff, but with all of the previous talk about drunk swerving and wheelies, it had gotten to her a little bit.
“Okay,”
she said, calming down a bit. This could be fun. She needed a girls night, anyway. “Where are we going?” She peeked out of the windshield at the road in front of them. The streets of her neighborhood were crowded with parked cars, but she knew once they got into the heart of the city there would still be quite a bit of motion and people. Miami was one of those places that never really seemed to stop, just slow down.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Mackenzie rolled her eyes as Kona called Oliver her mom, “If your mom has a problem he can bring it to me. Not either of you” she said. Oliver really shouldn’t have a problem, Mack wasn’t going to hurt either of them. Then something dawned on her. Didn’t Oliver and Kona have some weird hate for each other? Mackenzie felt like this wasn’t the time to ask so she revved the engine as Jenny got in the middle. Once Jenny was fully in the car Mack left her little neighborhood with a roar. Having Jenny in the car would only modify the way Mack was driving by so much, which meant less 200, but more drifting. It was still a midnight drive, it was when they claimed the city as theirs.
As the city streets were passing them by Mackenzie smiled happily, there wasn’t a place like Miami anywhere else. “We’re going to a friend’s house. Kinda…” she said looking over at Jenny. Mackenzie did tell her the truth, even though her answer was vague. She had a friend Jason who lived on the beach and had three dune buggies. He told Mack that anytime she wanted to use them she could, and tonight she intended to. Sure, Kona couldn’t go biking, but dune buggies were different. They had handles and seatbelts, and there could be a passenger in case you really fucked up. Plus, it was pretty hard to fuck up in a dune buggy unlike a streetbike. One wrong move on a bike and you could be dead. In a dune buggy, one wrong move and…well nothing really. The worst you could do was flip and the dunes that Jason had in his backyard weren’t the kind you flipped on.
As they pulled up into Jason’s driveway Mackenzie parked the car and took the keys out. She got out of the driver’s seat and looked at the two girls closing the car door. “Stay here okay? This is only going to take a minute” she said seriously as she headed over to the front door. She already knew that Jason was going to be as high as a kite; she didn’t need Jenny seeing him and flipping out or Jason getting distracted.

Mackenzie had the most amazing surprises. Kona leaned back until her head came in conact with the head rest. She closed her eyes trying to ignore the pain shooting across her leg and into her back. Her chest moved slowly as she worked on her breathing. Her blue eyes pierced through her eyelashes to check on Jenny before closing again. Jenny wasn't the sort of person who Kona had to smile for. She would never allow Jenny to see the trainwreck she really was, but she'd allow Jenny to notice her sadness. "Breathe, Jenny. That's the most important thing, okay? Don't think of whatever we're going to do as a whole. Take it apart. It's a beautiful night. The weather is perfect. The waves are crashing and little ghost crabs are finding food for their families. The wind is in our hair. You're with close friends. Hmkay?"
Kona sat up with bright eyes and a brilliant smile, not a trace of pain on her. She was planning to do her best to avoid injuring herself. She tapped her thumb on her phone and began sending Oliver is promised text message describing that Mack was surprising them. She tossed it aside not really enjoying have to check in with him. She liked him, but not as her parent. Kona paused, did she really like him? He was such an ass, and with that thought she smiled. Yes, she liked him. Why? She had no clue, but she did. He made her nervous, though. She was always wondering when he would leave, so she would never admit to really liking him.
Kona never did well with her so called "crushes". There was the ever disappearing Tamson, needless to say that didn't work out well. There was....well, that was it. She had no idea how to even tell if she liked a boy. She knew that she liked boys and was drawn to that gender, but her emotions were confusing. Not that boys were even worth it. Kona had taught herself she was better off alone. Men abused you and hurt you and left you alone. Oliver would be no different. He could be so cold, and even if he liked Kona, it was for her body. She refused to allow herself to be sad about this. It was life, no use complaining about that. She was lonely though. She wanted someone in her bed at night. She wanted someone who would slide their arm around her waist and pull her in tight when she started to remember the uglier pieces of her life. She hated being right about people. That was one thing she never wanted to win. She desperatly wanted someone to prove her wrong.

Jenny was actually pretty calm as they drove through Miami, even though Mack was going faster than Jenny had ever been used to. It actually wasn’t as horrifying as Jenny thought it was going to be. There was wind and a thrill, and Jenny knew that she wouldn’t be doing it herself, but Mack knew what she was doing. Or at least it seemed that way. And this was a lot better than going on motorbikes or whatever it was that they had been planning to do before. Not to mention that Kona’s suggestions helped. Jenny could sit with her eyes closed and the wind in her hair and breathe in the smell of the ocean and not worry about the fact they were weaving through traffic that didn’t seem to be able to see them much less keep up with them.
Jenny got a bit more anxious as they stopped outside of some guy’s house, though. She found it strange that she felt much more uncomfortable sitting still than she did when they were moving. She glanced over at Kona. She was still pretty beat up. Jenny hadn’t been one of the people that had gone to see her when she got in her accident, and she felt bad about it, but she knew that she wouldn’t have been able to handle driving over there, much less seeing Kona like that. She took in the stitches that covered Kona’s arm and leg. “How do you feel?”
Jenny questioned. Good enough to go on a midnight drive, apparently, but that didn’t tell Jenny much. She knew Kona wasn’t good at expressing sadness or pain. As much as Kona got angry or extremely happy, she didn’t share the vulnerable side of her.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Mackenzie smiled as she took the keys for the dune buggies from Jason. With her own keys in her pocket, and the three new ones on their individual key rings twirling around her finger, Mackenzie headed back over to the car where Jenny and Kona were. “You ladies ready?” she asked smirking. She couldn’t imagine either of them being disappointed. It was even Kona-proofed, all she had to do was sit and hit a pedal to make the buggy move. Mackenzie just hoped that Kona wouldn’t go overboard. If she had to take another trip to the hospital she felt like she might be sick, and then she’d have to deal with Oliver.
Her smirk grew a little as she ran a hand through her long dark hair. Her brown eyes looked at the two girls in front of her. “Before we begin though, there are a few rules. One, drop the cell phones. They’re not coming with us,” she said pausing as she tossed her own phone into the driver’s seat of the car. “Two, what we do here tonight, is a secret. This means if anyone finds out about our activities for the night, I’ll come after you. Three, Jenny gets the helmet. Four, you must have fun. Even though, I feel like it’s going to be impossible not to enjoy yourselves. You two really need to lighten up” she finished smiling at them.
She put out her hand with the two key rings, one for each of them. “Go ahead, take one. If you’re not too scared” she said with a small laugh. She knew that things were going to be fine. Jason had a killer beach backyard and Mackenzie was positive that once Kona and Jenny saw what Mack had up her sleeve, the night would take off.

Kona's eyes widen at the sound of keys. The cornners of her lips began to curl. She screamed and lurched forward grabbing one of the keys. "Mack, if this is for what I think it's for I may just kiss you." Keys and the beach meant two things to Kona: an ATV or a dune buggy. She loved either idea and she quickly emerged from the car. She wondered if Oliver would kill her for suddenly cutting of communication, but to be honest she didn't care.
Her black hair began to sway as she did a little dance. She was ready to go, and she was hoping Mackenzie would be interested in racing. Her mind was racing with things she wanted to do. If it was a dune buggy, she wanted to roll. If it was an ATV, she wanted to jump the dunes. If it was a dune buggy, she wanted to jump the dunes just not as high. She wanted to hit the edge of the water and feel the ocean spray all around her. Tonight was going to be wonderful. "Seriously, the boys would flip if they found out. They need some ass; they are both way too uptight." Her smile was enormous as she awaited their surprise. These were the nights Kona lived for.

Jenny looked at the keys in Mack’s hand and took them, though she wasn’t anywhere near as enthusiastic about it as Kona was. She wasn’t sure what was in store for them, or where they were. Neither of her friends were worried, so Jenny decided not to worry, either. Or at least not worry until she knew she had a good reason to. She placed her phone gently in the car and climbed out behind Kona. Jenny wasn’t particularly fond of not being able to tell anyone about what they were doing, and she wondered if it was illegal or something she was going to have the overwhelming urge to talk about later. And it involved helmets.
They were close to the water. Jenny could hear it. She tapped rocked back and forth and swung the key ring around her finger. She forced a smile. She was going to have fun if she just relaxed. And she could still say no if she needed to. She found that somewhat reassuring. “Let’s go,”
Jenny urged, both excited and nervous to find out what was in store for her. She trailed a little behind the other two girls as they made their way to the back of the house.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Mackenzie led the way to the back of the house being careful not to step on any of the random objects lying around. It was clear that Jason lived in a party house. There were plastic flamingos, red solo cups, and empty beer cans littered randomly throughout the yard. On the deck attached to the house there was still beer pong set up and bottles of alcohol left on deck chairs. Mackenzie laughed a little hoping that Jenny wasn’t paying too much attention to her surroundings.
She led them further though to a mini garage just on the edge of the sand and opened it. Inside were three pristine dune buggies ready to rip on the beach and there was a helmet on a shelf just for Jenny. From left to right there was a red, blue, and green buggy all waiting to be used. Mackenzie went straight to the red one and smiled getting in. She turned the key and did a small dance of excitement when the buggy came to life. All she wanted to do was donuts on the beach, spray water from the ocean’s edge, and scream at the top of her lungs. Mackenzie knew she should probably keep an eye out on Kona and Jenny too, but she wasn’t too worried. After all, it wasn’t like she took them sailing or something.
“Come on ladies, the night is young” Mackenzie said smirking. In just moments she would feel the ocean breeze and catch air over dunes, and the thought alone gave her excited goose bumps.

Kona bounced straight over to the blue buggy, and crawled in. Her eyes were buzzing with energy as she revved her engine. Stupidly, Kona floored the buggy and jerked herself foreward nearly smacking her head into the steering wheel. She tilted her head back and laughed widly as she zoomed past Jenny. She gave a scream as her buggy hit a ditch and she bounced around.
You would think that even Kona be safe in a dune buggy, but no. She was pulling doughnuts and within the first several seconds she had rolled twice. She was laughing so hard that she couldn't see, not that she could see well to begin with. She made a sharp turn and laughed as a spray of ocean water fell down on her. Next, she b-lined for a large dune that launched the tiny ball of fire high into the night sky. Her landing was less thann graceful as her buggy rolled some more.
ooc:// PAHAHAHA. that was a pitiful response, but i'm trying to tear through these before my whitney huston energy buzz dies!
