Hours pass and she still counts the minutesMackenzie knew it was probably a bad idea but instead of driving to Kona’s house, she took her bike. At points she really did feel like finding a cliff, but Kona was waiting for her. She didn’t speed, she just biked like a normal person which was a weird feeling for her. She didn’t even have the drive to pop wheelies or swerve in the middle of the road. that I am not thereShe knew she shouldn’t have been affected so badly by her parent’s lack of care but it made her insides hurt. It made her want to cry and throw things. Mackenzie had finally done something that was worth being proud of, and when she told her parents it was as if nothing happened. It was as if they didn’t hear her, like she was an imaginary figure that just happened to speak. There was no congratulations, no celebration, nothing. There was just nothing. Mackenzie didn’t know why she had thought that her parents would suddenly care or why she let herself believe that they would care. It had been a stupid idea to think that Jack or Camille would finally have the epiphany she had been waiting her whole life for. I swear I didn’t mean for it to feel like thisShe stopped thinking about it as she entered Kona’s driveway. Or at the very least she tried to stop thinking about it. Mackenzie felt like a mess, a depressed mess, but she wanted to put on a happy face for Kona. She left her bike in the driveway and walked up to the door ripping the headphones of her iPod out of her ears. Listening to Bruised by Jack’s Mannequin only helped her mood decline. She wrapped the cord around the device and put it into her back pocket. One of her hands then stuffed itself in her jean short pocket, and the other hand reached out to ring the doorbell. She sighed waiting on the porch wondering what her and Kona would be doing that involved her bikini. But she had brought her bike, so she was really ready for anything. Mackenzie was ready to spend time with the one person she considered her best friend. like every inch you see is bruised, bruised, bruisedooc//this took forever! sorry!!! but i made her outfit super quick!

Anger filled the little girl, she knew far too well absent parents felt. In Kona, Skyler was more than visible. The blacker than black ebnoy hair, the icy blue eyes, and the firey spirit all belong to Skyler. However, Kona knew none of that. All she knew was she had inherited her father's behavioral disturbances. She tried so long to have her father's attention. Occasionally, should would recieve a slap or something worse when Joshua was alive. Kona grew to long for the abuse, because she knew at that moment her father was with her, touching her, and this was as close to bonding as she could have. However, with Joshua's death, it all ended. Kona would even go so far as to shredding is papers, going a gang, and being a crazy party girl like Mackenzie for his attention. Now, he didn't even recognize her enough to sign away her custody.
She hadn't planned on telling Mackenzie exactly that, but some sort of version of it. Kona wanted Kenzie to know she was not alone, and people cared. Those people weren't her family, but her friends were. She knew it wasn't the same and there would still be pain, but it would help. Kenzie had to let them go in the same they had let her disappear. It was hypocritical, she was giving Mack the advice she had ignored. She didn't believe in families or love. It was all bull, and Kona wasn't buying anymore.
A sigh escaped her lips as she pinched her eyes shut, how was this going to work. Oliver and James, if they didn't pull this off right, were going to make things very bad. They weren't that dumb were they? Besides, what if Kenzie drowned? Kona had no idea if Mack had even been surfing, let alone at night. The ocean was a different place at night. The shore was lost when you went out, and you couldn't see anything around you. The ocean seemed so much louder and the tides had made the waters coppy. It was safe though, the part of the beach Kona owned was a prime surfing spot any time of the day. Her head jerked upwards when the door bell rang. "Here we go, I guess."
Kona rose from her stairs and headed for the door. She smiled seeing Mackenzie and she ran forward engulfing her into a hug. "Now, get that sexy body in your bikini." She giggled pulling away. "We're going to the water." She winked and wiggled her ass showing off her bikini. Many people never realized how incredibly toned Kona was. Her abs were most certainly defined, but in a sexy, femine way...not in like a body builder. Her legs while sexy, clearly had muscle. Kona's arms were small, like the rest of her, and full of lean muscles. Kona bludged in no area but her ass and breasts because of her lean build, which caused many people a shocking trip the hospital when they pissed her off.

Mackenzie couldn’t help but smile at her friend’s warm welcome. She hugged Kona back and simply nodded when she told her to go get her bikini on. She had been wearing her bikini on underneath her tank top and shorts so while she nodded to Kona she slipped into the closest bathroom and stripped down to her black bikini. As she looked in the bathroom mirror Mackenzie sighed. She grabbed a hair tie from off of her wrist and put her hair back in a messy bun. Looking at her reflection Mackenzie felt numb. She knew she was letting herself slip into a depression but she couldn’t help it, she was so upset.
Mackenzie adjusted her black bikini for a final time and wondered what in the world they would be doing in the water so late at night. There was no sun to tan with, a lack of light to find shells with, and she found herself at a dead end. She bit her bottom lip as she leaned up against the bathroom sink still pondering, and then it hit her. Kona + the beach = surfing. Mackenzie felt like a bit of an idiot not guessing this before but now hesitation was building. Mackenzie was a horrible surfer. Feeling as if she was taking too long Mackenzie left her clothes in the corner of the bathroom and went back to Kona.
It was hard not to smile at the tiny girl. The corner of Mackenzie’s lips curved upwards into a tiny grin as she looked at her. Being with Kona wasn’t like being around Jenny or even one of her oldest friends Alyssa. For them, she’d put on a happy face and leave all the details out. But with the tiny blue eyed girl in front of her, this was not the case. Mack didn’t need to force a smile for Kona or pretend for her. Mackenzie knew that they could see right through one another, if not all the time, a good portion of it. Mackenzie put her hands on her hips and let her smile grow, “Lead the way hot stuff”.

Gently giggling, Kona made her way toward the back door through her kitchen. Surfing in the darkest hours of the night was not the safest thing to do, which was why Kona did it. Also, she figued Mack would only be interested if there was some element of danger.
Kona closed her eyes as her bare feet met the cool sand and her skin filled with goosebumps against the brisk air. Her boards were leaning against one another as she selected two for the occasion. I won't take you out very far. The ocean is different at night and I want you to have a feel for it before we do anything crazy." The waves loud against the rocks and sand. They were louder than they would have normally scene. This was Mackenzie's first moment to back down. The water was very rough, and Kona would be able to save Mack if need be, btu she wasn't going to let Mack know that. Kona was practically a fish and for her the rough waters were like a bathtub.
"It's gonna be cold," Kona offered Mackenzie a proper sized board. "Still wanna go out there though, right?" Kona used a passive tone of voice and relaxed body language. She had been careful not to make Mack feel challenged. In the back of her mind, she was wondering if James and Oliver were on their way yet.
