"Since before I can remember." She laid across the swing with her head in Oliver's lap. "Do you think you'd want to learn? Well, once I get better." She yawned as he rocked them back and forth. "You know I won the race? I know you were real mad, but when you started talking about you and Kenzie. After you called me a bitch, I snapped. I get it, your an ass, but just like I have to learn to accept that...you gotta accept I'm reckless and klumsy. I get hurt, but I don't break so easily. I'll always get up."
For whatever reason, Kona began to think of Valentine's day. "I wonder if Chris will ask me to be his Valentine? If not, I'm having an anti-Valentine's Day. I'm going to buy myself roses and chocolates. Take myself a bubble bath. Go out in an incredibly provocative outfit. I'll go shopping and to the spa. I may even take a pole dancing lessons and go crazy wild. What do you think?" She looked up at him curious to see his reaction.

Before Oliver lived in Miami, he had lived in Charleston. Although it was on the water, it wasn’t the type of place that there was a lot of surfing and tanning. He smiled at her as she lay down on his lap. He laughed at the idea of him learning how to surf. “I don’t think I’ll ever be able to surf. You can try to teach me if you want, but don’t expect anything from me.”
He felt himself tensing as she began talking about racing again. He didn’t want to listen to this. He didn’t want to listen to her justication for her being stupid. He didn’t want her to get hurt. That wasn’t okay with him. He almost felt the urge to push her off of his lap. He was glad she was going to try to accept him being an ass, but he still wasn’t okay with her going off and getting hurt. “I’m sorry about being an ass,” he said, but his voice was harsh. “But I’m not going to be okay with you going and getting yourself into dangerous situations without someone looking out for you. You’re going to go too far one time, and when you’re going to leave a lot of people that care about you behind. I get it. You’re tough. And you are. But I’m still not okay with you doing stupid things. I care too much about you to just let you go off and hurt yourself.” Oliver rolled his eyes and patted Kona’s head. She was way too fixated with someone who Oliver was sure just wanted to get into her pants. “If Chris doesn’t ask you it doesn’t mean you have to be anti-Valentine’s day. But if you do go through with your plan, can I be there for the provocative outfit, bubble bath, and pole dancing?” Oliver had never really been that big of a fan of Valentine’s Day. Too much love-y stuff. But he never let it get to him. He was used to not getting Valentines. He just got laid instead. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

She was going to teach him to surf. All he had to do was stand on the board and make it the beach, and she would be happy. "I don't know if you can be there for all that, but we can have an anti-valentine's day together? Besides, Oliver, if you care that much, why don't you be the someone there to look out for me? Sometimes you seem to have something up your ass, I bet I could loosen you up." She paused hoping that hadn't sounded sexual. She was blushing deeply. She hadn't know he cared, but she still wouldn't admit anything.
Kona began to draw little flowers with her fingers. "If you care so much, why'd you stay with Kenzie?" She knew she was walking on thin ice now, but she couldn't figure it out. She wanted to know what was going through his mind. She wanted to know what made him tick. Part of her wanted to know so she could hurt him and the other part of her wanted to have more afternoons like this. "Why her?" She looked up at him puzzled and with a busted lip.
